Traffic Jams
There is a saying, the way a nation's people drive and manage traffic very much reflect their logic, intelligence and emotional quotient, hence to a certain extent, reflect the way they manage their lives. The basic causes of traffic jams, believe it or not are, stupidity (assumed intelligence), apathy (indifference) and lifestyle (the time most people used the road). Combining the above three elements will spontaneously result to a horrendous traffic jam. Why? Because the above three elements will guarantee a physical occurrence that is, a road clog or obstruction. Huge amount of resources are continuously wasted on traffic management but the root cause of traffic jams which more than neglected, is the human factor. The driving culture of the brain behind the wheel is the culprit.
Let's comprehend the logic and physical attributes of traffic. These physical elements has something to do with time, space and motion. Size of roads, number of vehicles, and the time a vehicle enter and stays on the road. Varying the ratio of any above will inevitably affect traffic. Because road traffic is linear, affecting one will invariably affect the entire length behind.
To cite a scenario. When an obstruction occurs in a main street when there are very few vehicles occupying such, the effect on traffic may not be noticeable, as there are plenty of road space for other vehicles to occupy. Hence the justification for traffic tolerance. But as more vehicles coincidentally take the road, these pile up for space waiting for the prior ones to exit. The obstruction is now in effect delaying the exit of other vehicles who entered earlier. As the ratio of vehicles entering outnumber those which are leaving, traffic slows down. You don't have to be a mathematics expert to know that compounding the time element with the vehicle to road ratio will give you the outcome of a traffic jam.
So there you go. Unless no alternative, avoid the roads when most people are using it. Move your butt once you're in. The traffic clog you create will delay everyone which on overall effect will delay you on your way back. Driving too fast may be riskier, but driving too slow runs the risk of being ran over. For those who habitually create clogs, pray not the day a tank will come your way.
